As a freelance writer and editor, I work with words every day. I’m well-versed in crafting compelling narratives that will leave a lasting impression with readers while adhering to proper grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style guide preferences.
Prior to founding Sheehan Writing & Editing in December 2014, I spent nearly five years honing my skills in the publishing, marketing, and public relations fields. I’ve worked as a newspaper copy editor and page designer, a college textbook copy editor, a marketing assistant for an energy and convenience store company, and as a communications specialist for a public relations company—all the while writing for magazines and newspapers as a freelancer since 2010.
Since then, I’ve written dozens of articles on business, travel, food and dining, fitness, and outdoor adventure for regional publications including Blue Ridge Country, Hagerstown, and Frederick magazines. I’ve also written member profiles and features on public speaking and leadership topics for Toastmaster, the monthly magazine published by Toastmasters International.
Now, in addition to writing for publications, I craft memorable public relations and marketing content, including press releases, blog posts, brochures, and website and social media copy, for businesses of all sizes.
I also specialize in copy editing and proofreading—taking something someone else has written, whether a short story, novel, or business document, and really making it shine. In the last few years, I’ve copy edited and proofread several fiction and nonfiction books as well as all manner of marketing and PR materials.
As a writer and editor, you never know what kind of projects might come your way. But that’s one of the things I love about what I do.
